This could be termed an exercise in recycling because each of the colours used, were scrapings of unused colour before it had dried on the palette from the previous day's work. As each colour
gradually built up, it soon took on a geological pattern. By simply adding a layer of silver, gold and bronze, the suggestion of the Earth's core became apparent. Hence the picture's title.

This was a hastily executed sketch done with flat tipped felt pens which had just come on the market. It was based loosely on fishing boat forms which I remembered from boyhood days spent in Scottish fishing towns such as Eyemouth, Arbroath and Girvan. Nothing more than that. |

I keep returning to forest themes and in this painting I have depicted the tree trunks as geometric block shapes
with a horizon of gold as one exits the forest into the distance. The painted frames are meant to symbolize
the wood of the trees in their predestined form. |
